BELIZE, Central America

BELIZE, Central America

Belize is a tiny coastal Caribbean country located between Guatemala and Mexico. With a population of around 350,000 people, it is home to the world's second-largest coral reef barrier. The country was known as British Honduras until becoming an independent nation in 1981. English is the primary language spoken in Belize.

Dan & Toni Underwood have been serving with Mission Journeys as our missionaries in Belize since 2010.

Since June 2010, Dan & Toni Underwood have lived in the Central American country of Belize year-round, helping nationals in ministry and working with a few existing churches they have been in contact with since 2009. They began serving as hosts for our short-term mission teams in 2011. They are a point of connection for various mission teams looking for a place to serve.
Through this partnership, the Underwoods have been able to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of many disadvantaged people, with an emphasis on helping “at-risk” kids.
In May 2015, a new ministry center was opened in the village of Cotton Tree just outside the capital city of Belmopan. This ministry center serves as the base of operations for Dan & Toni as they look to minister in different parts of the country and Central America. This location gives Dan & Toni more opportunities to share the Gospel through teaching and preaching.
