Wayne King become Executive Director of Mission Journeys on October 1, 2022.
Wayne has been serving on staff with Mission Journeys since 2019. In August of 2019, Wayne retired from the Kentucky Department of Education and began an expanded role with Mission Journeys as Associate Director in charge of the Global Bible School (GBS). His work with GBS includes teaching and training church leaders in the Philippines, Pakistan, Tanzania, Zambia and Guyana.
Wayne brings a unique set of qualifications and abilities to Mission Journeys. His formal education includes a Bachelor's degree from Winston-Salem Bible College in Missionary Aviation and Bible, Bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky in Education and a Master of Arts degree from the University at Omaha in Urban Studies and Aviation Management.
Wayne has served as a bi-vocational minister for churches in North Carolina, South Carolina and Kentucky. He has extensive involvement in church leadership in several congregations, serving as youth leader, choir director, teacher, Sunday school superintendent, deacon and elder.
In his business career, Wayne began working in the aviation industry in the mid 1980’s as a flight instructor and aircraft maintenance technician. In 1990, he started a rigorous and successful high school aviation program in Lexington, KY, remaining in that position for over 10 years. In 2001, he started working for the state of Kentucky as a consultant in the Department of Education, working with over 90 schools in a continuous improvement process.
Wayne and his wife, Kim, have been married for 38 years and reside in Lawrenceburg, KY. The Kings are active members at Fox Creek Christian Church.
Greg began working with Mission Journeys on a part-time basis in August 2022, overseeing programming and development projects for the organization.
He has a long history with Mission Journeys. Greg has served as Associate Director (1995-2008), Executive Director (2009-2015) and Board Member (2018-2021). He is a veteran of many short-term mission trips to various countries. He’s also helped launch mission initiatives in Belize, Haiti, Honduras and Eastern KY.
Since November 2022, Greg has served as the Lead Minister at First Christian Church in Lexington, KY.
Greg graduated from Morehead (KY) State University in 1993 with a BA degree in Journalism. In 2023, he earned a Master of Arts degree in Ministry Leadership from Central Christian College of the Bible (Moberly, MO).
He and his wife Kelly live in Lexington, KY, and they have two adult daughters (Autumn and Meredith) and one son-in-law (Jacob Tellman).
Holly Riggs became the Office Manager for Mission Journeys starting in October, 2022.
Prior to her coming to work with us, she served as Financial Secretary at Big Hill Christian Church in Richmond, KY (2013-2021). She retired from Ashland Inc. in 2009 after 23 years of working there.
Holly's husband, Jim, is Senior Minister at Big Hill Christian Church in Richmond, KY. Holly and Jim live in Lexington and have 2 adult children and 4 grandchildren.
