2024 is off to a great start for Mission Journeys. February is a time associated with love primarily because Valentine's Day is celebrated during the month. I hope and pray you had a good Valentine's Day this past Wednesday (February 14).
Valentine's Day is not just a time for "love" but also for joy in knowing that God is with us and He loves us more than we could ever imagine.
We can give chocolates, flowers, and cards to the ones we love, but as followers of Christ, let us remember that love is best defined by Jesus and His sacrificial death on the cross. Knowing this should motivate us to love more and more like the way Jesus loves. If we do this, we will point people to Christ.
"No one has ever seen God, but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us." (1 John 4:12)
"By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:35)
In honor of Valentine's Day taking place this week, I found some of our founder Ken Henderson's old poems that he used to incorporate with his church and school presentations. Allow me to share a few...
First, here is some good advice...
Never kiss by the garden gate,
'Cause tho' love is blind,
The neighbors ain't!
Here's one more relative now than ever...
Kisses have germs
And germs are hated;
But you can kiss me, honey
Because I am vaccinated!
Finally, a true classic "Straight from Ken"...
When you're out with your honey,
And your nose is getting runny,
You may think it's funny,
But she thinks it snot!
THANKS again for your help, prayers, and encouragement.
In Him,
Greg Herriford / Development Director
